In a rematch of the 2017 6A Girls State Championship match, Ellie Kuckelman again got the best of her twin sister Chloe to take home the singles title at the Wichita Collegiate Tournament of Champions Saturday. The two Nebraska commits played a tight match, with Ellie coming out on top 8-6 to get the win.
In the doubles championship, the Mustangs made it a sweep, with Callie Flanagan and Christine O'Brien having no issue defeating the Collegiate team of Sydney Lair and Hannah Geoffroy. The defending 4A doubles champions fell in the championship match 8-1.
For third place on the singles side, a pair of Kapaun Crusaders battled it out against one another. Clara Whitaker, the defending 5A champion, defeated teammate Reagan Boleski 8-4. For the doubles, Carroll's Lauren Steven and Paige Stranghoner held off a late charge from Ark City's Kelsie Burr and Jacey Arnett to take third. Burr and Arnett went from down 6-1 to tying the match at 6 games apiece before Carroll won the final two games to get the 8-6 win.
