WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) -- The Bishop Carroll girls soccer team takes down East 4-0 in a City League Championship rematch.
After 9 minutes of scoreless play, the rain started to come down heavy and the match was delayed for an hour due to lightning.
Then on the very first kick following the delay, Carroll's Taryn Lubbers connected on a free kick from an East foul before the lightning struck, pocketing the ball perfectly in the corner of the net to make it 1-0 Golden Eagles.
Carroll's Khloe Schuckman and Anna Lasak were nearly unstoppable when together near the goal from there on, with Schuckman assisting on two Lasak goals to get the lead to 3-0 before halftime.
An East own goal late concluded the scoring, giving Carroll the 4-0 win as they improved to 10-0 on the season. The loss for the Blue Aces is just the third for East of the season, dropping them to 6-3 on the year.
The Carroll win along with Wichita North's 10-0 shutout of Southeast sets up a match Tuesday between the two teams at the top of the GWAL, with the 9-1 Redskins traveling to Carroll with first place on the line.
