Bishop Carroll went on a 19-0 run in the first half and never looked back, crushing top ranked Andover Central 68-46 Friday in the GWAL/AVCTL Challenge.
Three players for the Golden Eagles hit 16 or more points, led by Brenyn St. Vrain's 17, 15 of those coming on 5 makes from deep. Tanner Mans and Alex Littlejohn added 16 each, while Luke Larkin hit 11 to give Carroll four players in double-figures.
After Carroll opened the game on a 7-0 run, Andover Central went on a 9-2 run of their own to tie the game at 9, then at 11. Then the run happened. Carroll scored the final 11 points of the first quarter, and kept it going by putting home the first 8 of the second, effectively putting the game away early.
The loss marks the second of the week for the Jaguars, who entered the week as the #1 team in the KBCA poll for Class 5A. Bishop Carroll, who entered #2, look likely to make the jump to the top spot after the win.
