Bishop Carroll, entering the tournament as the 6 seed, looked out of it against #3 Shawnee Mission Northwest. The Golden Eagles trailed by as much as 13 early, and the Lady Cougars held a 42-31 lead into the second half.

But Carroll never quit, chipping away at the lead as the fourth quarter progressed. Trailing by four with under a minute to play, Hannah Landwehr hit a three to cut the deficit to one. Northwest missed the ensuing front end of a one and one, and Carroll had a chance to take the lead.

Britney Ho got it in the post and wrestled the ball away from a defender, preventing a jump ball call, and hit what turned into the game winning bucket. Bishop Carroll completed the comeback, upsetting Northwest 46-45.

In the next two games the upsets continued, with the 7 and 5 seeds also winning. Olathe Northwest held Kapaun to just 4 first quarter points en route to a 59-36 rout of the Crusaders. Andover Central followed that up with a 52-38 win over 4 seed Garden City. In the nightcap, top seeded Bishop Miege was the only team not to get upset with an easy win over host Newton, 69-35.

In Friday night's semifinal matchups, Bishop Carroll will face Olathe Northwest in the first game follow by Bishop Miege taking on Andover Central. Play is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm from Newton, with consolation games preceding starting at 3:00pm.
