Big second quarter leads Cheney by Garden Plain

A 30-13 second quarter advantage proved to be too much as Cheney rolled to a big win over their rival Garden Plain Friday night, 75-42.

The Cardinals shot 9/11 from three in the first half, a shooting clinic that the 5th ranked Owls couldn't keep up with in suffering just their 5th loss of the season.

Garden Plain got things started with a three on their opening possession, but that was their lone lead after Cheney came back with a 14-0 run to open things up early.

Then in the second quarter they blew it open, with five different players hitting threes leading to a 47-18 halftime lead, never looking back in what turned out to be a 33 point home win.

The win puts Cheney at 15-2 on the season, still in line to be the top seed in the sub-state round in two weeks.
