After trailing 1-0 after the first 40 minutes of play, Bishop Carroll rallied for a big second half to beat Maize 3-1 and advance to the 5A State Semfinals.

Then coming out of the break, Carroll got the scoring started in a hurry, with Paige Stranghoner cleaning up a free kick to tie the match at 1. Then midway through the second half, with Stranghoner delivering a corner kick, an attempted clearance from Maize went awry, with Carroll scoring on an own goal to take the 2-1 lead.

With 10 minutes to play, Anna Lasak scored on a Taryn Lubbers assist to give the Golden Eagles an insurance goal, clinching a return trip to State for Bishop Carroll.

Carroll improves to 18-1 on the season, and will now meet St. Thomas Aquinas with a spot in the final on the line. The winner of that game will await the winner between Valley Center and St. James in the nightcap Friday in Emporia.
