With both teams struggling to find the bottom of the net in the opening half, Bishop Carroll came out on fire in the third, outscoring Newton 16-4 to help them cruise to a 43-22 win over the Railers in the GWAL/AVCTL Challenge Friday evening.
Senior Hannah Landwehr scored 14 to lead all scorers, including three triples in the first half as Carroll built a 19-10 halftime lead.
Then in the third the Golden Eagles nearly doubled their first half output with five different players hitting shots, with Landwehr's five leading the way ahead of a 43-22 win.
Khloe Schuckman added 8 and Anna Wineland 7 for Carroll as they moved to 3-0 on the year. Keila Gillispie scored 8 to pace the Railers who are still in search of their first win of the year.
