Beloit dominates Larned to open post season

LARNED, Kan. The Beloit Trojans dominated the Larned Indians to win the Week 9 matchup 44 to 6.

Larned came into the matchup missing their starting quarterback and linebacker Mason Perez due to an ankle injury.

Beloit won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball. They started on the Larned 29-yard line.

The Trojans then went on a methodical 13 play, 7:35 minute long drive to score the first touchdown. Carson Cox crossed into the endzone on a one-yard rush. Cox made a comment and gesture towards a Larned player and received an unsportsmanlike conduct flag.

After the successful point after touchdown kick, Beloit led 7-0.

Larned went five plays and turned the ball over on downs.

Beloit took over on their 36-yard line. They took off 3:50 from the clock as they scored a second time on a Grant Arasmith seven-yard run.

Another successful point after touchdown made the lead 14-0.

Larned got the ball back on their 12-yard line. They then proceeded to go backward. They ended up in punt formation from their 10-yard line on fourth down. Larned's Ian Orth mishandled the hike and had to scramble as the Trojans swarmed to him. Beloit's Tanner Dougherty sacked him in the end zone resulting in a safety.

Now leading 16-0, Beloit got the ball back on their 48-yard line. This possession would end with the Trojans turning the ball over on downs at the Larned 40-yard line.

The Indians would give it back on the very next play as Carson Cox intercepted the ball on a pass play from Dillan Smith.

With the ball again, Beloit would need less than 90 seconds to score. Carson Cox would record his second touchdown of the night by running it in from four yards out. After the PAT, the Trojans led 23-0.

Beloit would add two more touchdowns before the halftime whistle. Brennan Walker caught a 34-yard pass and took it in for a touchdown. Vincent Palen also caught a pass, this one for 19-yards, to record a score.

At halftime, Beloit led Larned 37 to 0.

Brennan Walker would catch a second touchdown from 11 yards out to make it 44-0.

After this score, a running clock started until the end of the game.

Larned would get on the board with 2:59 left in the game. Dillan Smith threw a 65-yard touchdown to Brock Skelton. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

In the first half alone, Beloit had the ball six times. The put up a total of 274 yards. Two touchdowns came from the air and three on the ground.

On the night, Carson Cox accounted for two touchdowns on 20 carries totaling 126 yards. He also caught two passes for a total of 16 yards.

"We've got an offensive line that can really set the tone," said Head Coach Brad Gober. "We will go as far as our offensive line will take us."

The Trojans will now face Colby who they lost to 21-20.

Larned ends the season with a record of 4-5.
