Behind a 30 point effort from Jackie Johnson, Southeast held off Heights Wednesday night in the Sub-State semifinal round.

The Golden Buffaloes went up by as much as 14 in the second quarter, taking a double digit lead into halftime. In the third that lead fell apart, with Heights chipping away and cutting it to two late in the quarter. But Johnson hit a third quarter buzzer beating triple to get it back to five, and Southeast wouldn't look back from there.

Johnson scored just two of his points in the opening quarter, the Falcons doubling him up and turning an early deficit into a 14-11 lead. That was the last time they held the lead, with Johnson getting going to the tune of 12 second quarter points. He then added three triples after the break including the buzzer beater.

Voshun Webb and Caleb Wilson also scored in double figures for the Buffs, adding 10 each. Alex Norris lead the way for Heights, dropping 19 in what ends up being his final high school game.

Southeast will now travel to Lawrence Saturday to face the Chesty Lions with a trip to the State Tournament on the line. Lawrence dispatched of Wichita South Wednesday, 63-41.
