DERBY, Kan. (KWCH) -- Arkansas City got out to a 24-0 lead over Derby with three-consecutive falls by Jevin Faust, Sammy Dickey, and Kael Pappan. Add in one bye from the Panthers in the 120lb class, and the 2nd-ranked Bulldogs were rolling.
The top-ranked team in 6A finally struck back in the 132lb class, when Cason Lindsey pinned Kyler Horton, followed by a 15-2 major decision in favor of Derby's Kobe Girjalva over Korbin Wise.
Derby finally put a run together in the last third of the dual, with a pin from 160-pounder Taidon Wills, and back-to-back major decisions by the two Oklahoma State commits Cade Lindsey (13-0), and Tristan Wills (21-8).
Derby trailed 33-30 with two byes and one wrestler remaining. Any decision would result in a win for the Panthers, however, Ark City's Maximus Shannon defeated Tyler Allen 1-0 in the final match of the night.
The two schools finished 36-36 after all byes were considered. The Bulldogs won one extra point for a tie-breaker for earning more six-plus-point wins.
