ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. - A lot of nail biting occurred on both sides of the court in the Ark City gymnasium on Friday night. The Ark City Bulldogs hosted the Maize South Mavericks in what ended up being a shot for shot contest till the end. The Bulldogs ended up pulling out the win 66-61 at the end of the fourth quarter.
Both the Mavericks and Bulldogs in this contest went back and forth, shot for shot. The Bulldogs would score a shot and the Mavericks would answer right back with a shot. The game tied up so many times it was hard to keep track.
During the second half it was hard to not notice. At 4:48 of the third quarter, the game was tied at 40-40. At 4:30 of the fourth quarter the game was tied at 55-55. A little over a minute later at 3:46 of the fourth tied at 57-57. At 1:04 left in the game tied at 59-59. At 43:7 the score was 61-61. It began feeling like the game was destined an overtime quarter. The Bulldogs had another idea in mind.
Cevin Clark helped lead the Bulldogs to victory. Clark led scoring for the Bulldogs totaling 40 points by the end of the game. Kail Kordonowy led scoring for the Mavericks. Kordonowy picked up 18 points throughout the game.
Ark City finally broke free and took the lead in the last 30 seconds of the game. At 24:5 left in the fourth, the Bulldogs had a 2 point lead, 63-61. Ark City was able to hold Maize South at 61 points and finish the game winning 66-61.
