Aquinas too much for Great Bend in 5A opener

St. Thomas Aquinas defeated Great Bend 6-2 in the opening game of the 5A State baseball tournament.
Joey Soupiset was the star for the Panthers, leading Great Bend with two hits and one run in three at-bats.
Colin Hall was the losing pitcher for Great Bend, earning five runs on 12 hits through five innings pitched.
Gunnar Sehon, the winning pitcher for St. Thomas Aquinas, pitched the entire seven innings and allowed only two runs on four hits.
The 2-seeded Saints scored in almost every frame to pace themselves to a semifinal game against 6-seed St. James Academy Friday morning at 11:00 am.
