Andover stays unbeaten, headed to state

ANDOVER, Kan. The Andover Trojans survived a tough one against Emporia, winning 49-45 Friday night in the sub-state final. Now 22-0 and on the to state tournament next week.

Andover was led by Harper Jonas with 13 points. Jonas was in foul trouble for much of the 1st half, but exploded in the 4th quarter with 11 of his 13 points.

Emporia's big man Charles Snyder led all scorers with 26, but it wasn't enough to take down the unbeaten Trojans.

Emporia led at the half 19-16, but the 3rd quarter swung the Trojans way. Andover outscored Emporia in the 3rd, 16-9 in the biggest swing of the game.

The 5A state tournament will be in Emporia at the Emporia-White Auditorium. First round games are Wednesday.
