Andover shows defensive front, upsets Salina Central

Salina Central was projected as the favorite, hosting the 5-12 game against Andover, although it would be the Trojans who would come away with a 28-7 win, thanks to a stout defensive performance.

The Trojan offense set the tone early and often, using big plays to pace the Mustangs on Friday night. Max Smith found Harper Jonas over the top for a 40-yard score that helped propel the Trojans in the game.

Andover's defense put together one of the best performances the entire season. The Trojans were able to come away with a turnover and had numerous shots at the quarterback on the night.

Andover moves on to face off against Bishop Carroll in the next round of the 5A playoffs. Salina Central ends the season with a 5-4 record.
