ANDOVER Andover fell on Friday night in the backyard brawl, but the real loss for the Trojans came at the quarterback position.

Eli Fahnestock dropped back midway through the first quarter before losing his footing and falling to the turf without contact. The type of injury that makes football fans cringe, often revealing a torn ACL or similar injury. The hope coming out of Andover is that a tear is not the diagnosis for Fahnestock but something less severe. We'll keep an eye on his status in the coming week.

In the game, Fahnestock's replacement made in instant impact on the defense with an interception, but followed that with a pick of his own early in the second quarter. Facing a rush in the endzone, Alex Jones tried to shovel a pass rather than take the safety, but it went right into the waiting arms of Sam Thomas who took it a yard in for the first score of the game.

The following Central possession, Chase White redeemed himself on the earlier interception, finding Xavier Bell in the endzone to make it 14-0.

In the second half, Andover made a game of it, but a 4th quarter safety turned out to be the difference in the Jaguars victory.

Central improves to 3-4 and welcomes Ark City into District Stadium to wrap up their regular season next Friday. Andover will try to bounce back and finish .500 against Goddard.
