ANDOVER, Kan.-- It was a rematch of last year's sub-state game between Maize South and Andover Central. That game was a little closer than this season opener.
The Jags had a comfortable win 70-49 over the Mavericks.
Andover Central got out to a fast start in it's first game of the season, riding a 16 point buffer by halftime.
Really, it was the first quarter putting up 26 points where the Jags got most of their momentum.
Xavier Bell alone contributed 25 points for Andover Central making him the game's leading scorer. Shomari Parnell was next on roster with 13 points.
On Maize South's side, Ben Crowell hit 5 three-pointers totaling 15 points to lead his squad.
The Mavs knocked through 14 of 31 from the line. Andover Central hit 63 percent of it's free shots (14-22).
Maize South will head to Andover next and Andover Central hosts McPherson.
