Coming off of the first loss of season, Andover Central was able to put together the perfect game plan ahead of Great Bend. On Friday, the Jaguars executed that game plan perfectly en route to a 41-7 win over the Panthers.

The success for Andover Central started at kickoff. Great Bend was unable to move the Jaguar defense on the opening drive. Trey DeGarmo controlled the defense for Andover Central making tackles across the board the entire night. He also finished with a touchdown in the first half. Jake Taylor also proved to be an important part of the first half takeover by the defense, securing an interception late in the second quarter.
Unlike Great Bend, Andover Central was able to move the ball and score when they wanted. Senior Quarterback Shomari Parnell was able to mix running from the pocket with deep strikes to receivers like Matt Macy and Xavier Bell. Macy was credited with two first half touchdowns, including an impressive circus catch before half.
The running game also proved to be solid behind Jacob Rees who barreled his way to points multiple times in the first half.
Andover Central improves to 5-1 and is set for a cross-town showdown with Andover in a week. Great Bend will look to bounce back against Liberal.
