Cheylin stays perfect against Ashland, advances to 6-man title game
BIRD CITY, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Two of the best in Kansas 6-man football met up on Friday night with a spot in the state title game on the line. After topping Ashland in the regular season, Cheylin was hoping to make it a season sweep. They did so in dominant fashion, taking it 66-27.
Cheylin senior Logan McCarty said that clinching their spot in the state championship is no accident with the work that has gone in in Bird City.
“Practice, hard work, determination, coming out here every day working hard,” he said. “All of us were in the weight room this summer, and we just live for this game, and we wanted it more then they did and we came out here and proved that. I’m just excited to hopefully go win a state championship with them. They’re my brothers. They’re like family to me and I would love more than anything to go win one with them.”
The Cougars now move on to face Cunningham to try to complete a perfect season and hoist a state championship trophy. The title game will be held in Dodge City at 1 pm.
