ELLSWORTH, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The class 2A as one of the most stout brackets record-wise with eight teams coming in with one loss or less. Friday night yielded a matchup of two of the top teams in Ellsworth and Norton. Throughout the year we saw that both teams could light up the scoreboard with ease, but this matchup was one filled with some big defense as the Blue Jays held the Bearcats to their lowest scoring game of the year, 20-6.

Norton quarterback Eli Jones said that the reason his team was able to stay undefeated was due to toughness throughout the game.

“We knew they were a physical team coming in but our team, our line, we knew we had to be more physical up front, and just dominate the game really,” said Jones. “All credit to the line, and we had a lot of players step up. Fullbacks, running backs, receivers. [It was] obviously just a hard fought way to be tough.”

The win moves Norton on to the state semifinals where they will face off against another undefeated team in Hoisington after their win over Southeast of Saline Friday night.
