WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The top seed in the western bracket of the Class 5A Kansas high school football playoffs had a fight on its hands for the second consecutive week. After holding on against Great Bend last week, Kapaun paired another offensive explosion with just enough clutch defense to deny Maize South, 57-47.

Kapaun is now win one away from advancing to the Class 5A state title game. Standing in the Crusaders’ way is Goddard Eisenhower. Both teams enter sub-state with 10-1 records. Next week’s winner will play in the state title game Nov. 26.
