Kapaun uses big second quarter to top East
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Kapuan Mt. Carmel improves to 2-0 on the season with a 43-29 victory over Wichita East.
The Crusaders cruised to a 36-13 halftime lead thanks to the play of Air Force commit Omari Elias with multiple touchdown runs on the night.
“East is a team that you got to come out and make adjustments against,” Elias said. “It’s important that we stay composted against an athletic and intense team like them.”
The Crusaders defense stepped up as well with a pick-six and safety in the first half.
“Our defense was outstanding,” Weston Schartz, head coach of Kapaun said. “We kept them out of the end zone we had to, we limited their big plays.”
“Since last year we lost to East, it was a game that we circled since the beginning,” Charlie Chrisman, Kapaun safety and running back said. “We really wanted to come out here and punch them in the mouth and that’s what we did.”
