Eisenhower’s offense explodes in road win at Salina Central
A week after being held without an offensive touchdown--and still winning--Eisenhower took a different approach in their game at Salina Central. The result, the same, this time a 44-28 road win to start the year 2-0 and hand the Mustangs their first loss.
The Tigers turned to their running back Lucas Dickman in establishing the run early and often, and he answered by going for over 200 yards on the ground and scoring twice. Quarterback Derek Morgan added 74 yards rushing himself to go with 174 in the air.
“That was my first good varsity game, second start, that was a great team win and we came out on top. It was good and we showed everybody else what we have going on around here,” said Morgan after the win.
Central was playing without starting QB Gunnar Gross who left injured in their season opening win over Salina South. Jack Gordon stepped into the pass heavy offense and hit 300 yards. Elijah Wilson went for more than 250 total yards of offense out of the backfield.
Eisenhower heads now into their second straight road contest, playing at Valley Center. The Mustangs will look to bounce back against Emporia.
