ANDOVER, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Maize South junior Tate McNew tallied five total touchdowns, helping the Mavs pull away from Andover in the second half in a 48-27 win.

McNew threw four touchdowns and ran another.

Brady Rapp got the scoring started with a first-quarter rushing touchdown, and Sammy Dresie’s first touchdown reception in the second quarter broke a 7-7 tie.

With the score at 17-14 late in the second, McNew found Landen Gatto for the touchdown before an Andover rushing touchdown late in the half.

Freshman Darius Felton extended the lead to 31-21 with a 33-yard touchdown reception.

Dresie later hauled in a 56-yard touchdown.

Sam Parks also made field goals of 48 and 51 yards while going 6-for-6 on extra-point attempts.

Maize South hosts Campus in Week 2. Andover will travel to Ark City.
