The Catch it Kansas track tracker is back! The first 10 days of the 2023 prep track season are in the books. More athletes met the cutline across the six classifications, meaning many of the top-16 rankings are already full. Many schools have yet to compete and will help fill out the rankings next week. Wind no doubt played a factor in many of the events, but especially the javelin and pole vaults. Those two events were not included in several meets across the state.
Already some top athletes are standing out. Wichita Trinity junior Clay Shively ran an 8:50 in his first 3200m run of the season. That not only leads Class 3A by nearly a minute, but also ranks No. 2 on the state’s all-time list.
It’s always an event when Andale competes. Senior Riley Marx could climb up the state’s all-time javelin list throughout the season. His first throw past 202 feet was the lone throw over 200 feet heading into the first rankings.
