Bishop Carroll comes shy of ending Aquinas’ reign atop 5A
EMPORIA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Bishop Carroll High School girls found their spot in the 5A state championship game for the 6th time in school history, looking for championship number two. Despite an early lead, and a tight game down the stretch, St. Thomas deemed too much for the Golden Eagles, as the Saints win their 7th straight 5A state championship, 62-56.
Bishop Carroll head coach Taylor Dugan said that even though her team fell short in the championship game, there is a lot to look forward to for Golden Eagle fans.
“It was an awesome season,” she said. “We had one senior, we have a young team. Our senior Landon Forbes was our heart and soul. She wanted this, she got us here. They played as a team for her. It was a really great season for us. It stinks. You know, someone’s got to lose but I really didn’t want It to be us.”
