WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - After a 35 year hiatus from the KSHSAA state tournament, 2022 was the year the Golden Buffaloes finally got the coveted sub-state championship and state berth. Waiting for them in Charles Koch Arena was 3-seed Blue Valley North. Although Southeast looked out-matched on paper, that couldn’t have been farther from the truth in the first half.

Alana Webb (15 points) and Ma’khiyah Jones (11) helped keep the buffaloes neck-and-neck with their 18-4 opponents, and eventually up to a late first half lead. The third quarter was where it took off for Blue Valley North, outscoring Southeast 14-4, and eventually went on to top the Buffaloes 57-45.
