Macksville too much for La Crosse in 1A D1 Quarterfinal contest

DODGE CITY, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The Macksville Mustangs advanced to the Class 1A Division I semifinals with a 72-48 victory over the LaCrosse Leopards.
This was the second meeting for the two Central Prairie League schools this season. Macksville won 69-37 on January 31st.
LaCrosse won the tipoff and scored the first basket with a three-pointer. The two teams would trade the lead back and forth until Macksville made a three with 2:34 left in the first quarter.
The Mustangs would not trail again in the game.
By the end of the first half, Macksville had built a 20-point lead at 39-19.
Macksville maintained the arms-length lead for the rest of the game.
Macksville’s Rogelio Ibarra led all scorers with 23 points. He made three field goals, two three-pointers, and went 11 of 14 from the free-throw line. His point total put him in the 1,000+ point club for his high school career.
Diego Esparza added 12 points with four field goals and a perfect four of four in free throws.
LaCrosse’s Caden Morgan led his team with 17 points. He made two field goals, four three-pointers, and one free throw.
LaCrosse ends their season with an 18-6 record.
Macksville advances to play the South Gray Rebels Friday, March 10th at 8:00 PM.
