Heights rallies to down Northwest in sub-state final
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The Northwest Grizzlies jumped out to an 11-point lead in the second quarter at Heights, but Marcus Zeigler and TJ Williams guided the Falcons to a comeback and 61-43 win to claim a sub-state championship Friday.
Northwest led 14-9 after one quarter thanks to nine points combined by Tasean Williams and Eli Benning.
The Northwest lead grew to as much as 11 in the second quarter, but Chase Robinson scored eight late in the frame for the Falcons to cut the deficit to 28-26.
Williams gave the Falcons their first lead on a layup in the third, with Zeigler scoring six of his 12 in the frame to grab a 39-35 edge heading to the fourth.
The Falcons allowed just 15 points after halftime. Robinson led the way with 14, with Williams (13) and Zeigler (12) chipping in double-digit efforts.
The Grizzlies were led by 12 from Jerome Henderson and Williams. Benning added 11.
