Maize South defeats Derby for third time this season, win 53-47

MAIZE, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Maize South won 53-47 over the Derby Panthers on Friday night. The victory for the Mavericks marks the third time they’ve beat the Panthers this season.
Friday night’s matchup was highly anticipated. Both teams were featured in our top ten rankings this past week (Derby No. 7 in 6A, Maize South No. 4 in 5A).
Mavericks Head Coach Joe Jackson says this win is big for their team moving forward.
“To get three wins against a quality program like that is big for our program,” Jackson said. “Really proud of our guys the way they stepped up and battled.”
Maize South’s record moves to 15-3 this season. Derby’s record moves to 13-5.
