McPherson cruises to 68-52 victory at Collegiate

WICHITA, Kan. (CatchItKansas) - Heading into Friday night, the matchup between these two teams was highly anticipated. Both McPherson and Collegiate were featured in our rankings, each team in the top five in their classification (Collegiate 5th in 3A, McPherson 4th in 4A).

Both teams were trading baskets in the first half, which featured high scoring. The game was tied at 35-all at halftime. McPherson controlled the final 16 minutes to cruise to the 68-52 win.

In the second half, McPherson gained momentum, taking their game to another level on both sides of the floor. The game really changed in the third quarter, in which the Bullpups went on a 19-7 run.

Bullpups Head Coach Kurt Kinnamon says his team felt motivated to play in the second half.

“As much as I get on them at halftime and question their manhood and all of that stuff... obviously it worked,” Kinnamon said. “It takes awhile to get used to the way that they play, they do such a good job of trapping everywhere and they’re active.”

Collegiate suffers their second loss of the season and will look to bounce back against Rose Hill next Friday. McPherson’s record moves to 11-3.
