Great Bend, Kapaun to meet in Bluestem Classic finals
EL DORADO, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Friday night had two games that on paper were breezes for the higher seeds, but that proved to not be the case as 6-seed Great Bend is on to the finals of El Dorado’s Bluestem Classic. The Panthers knocked off previously undefeated Wichita Collegiate 61-55. Collegiate jumped out to an early lead, but it did not take Great Bend long at all to take over control of the game. The Spartans made a run late behind freshman Jaden Parker, even getting as close as two points within the final minute, but Great Bend iced the game with a Maddox Spray layup to end the game up six. Jacob Hall and Ian Premer led the scoring in the win Friday posting 15 and 13, respectively.
The night cap game was not quite as eventful. Ark City, fresh off a big win over Trinity Academy hung in with the #2 team in 5A for the opening minutes before Will Anciaux’s scoring explosion took over and didn’t look back. The K-State football commit totaled 26 points as Kapaun rolled to the win, 79-57.
