McPHERSON, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The McPherson Bullpups scored twice in the latter stages of the second quarter, turning a 20-7 deficit into an eventual 49-28 victory in Friday’s 4A sectional round at McPherson Stadium.

Circle began the game with a 75-yard touchdown on the first play as Cooper Chadwell found Ty Smith for the passing score and a 7-0 lead.

Circle then fumbled the ensuing kickoff return, but McPherson coughed up the ball on its next play.

Later in the first quarter, Westin Rose sprinted away for a long touchdown run and 13-7 lead.

On fourth-and-7, McPherson QB Hunter Alvord threw an interception in the end zone, but Chadwell was picked off by Gavin Richardson two plays later, and he returned it for a touchdown.

With McPherson driving in the final seconds, Circle’s Nick Ahles appeared to thwart the drive with an interception, but it was ruled incomplete.
