Derby takes care of Rural 36-21 in Sectional round
Zerger injury leaves question for Sub-State
DERBY, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Dylan Edwards helped set the tone early, and Derby controlled the game throughout in a 36-21 win over Washburn Rural in the Sectional round Friday night. Edwards capped the first Derby drive with a 15-yard TD run, before Rural answered with a long drive and score of their own to tie things up. But Edwards, and the Derby offense struck back immediately, Edwards popping off a 56 yard TD, to extend the lead to 13-7.

Both teams added a score in the 2nd, and Derby held a small lead going into the break at 20-14.
One big storyline of the 2nd half was an injury to Derby QB Brock Zerger, and Braxton Clark finished the game for the Panthers. Clark threw for Derby’s final TD, and we will wait and see on Zerger’s status for the sub-state round against unbeaten Manhattan.
