Unbeaten Olathe North picked up their biggest win of the season, a comeback 20-16 victory over defending 5A champ Mill Valley to move up to 2nd in the rankings. They and Manhattan will both attempt to finish out perfect regular seasons Friday, though the Indians will have to get through 4th ranked Northwest to achieve that. Wichita East moves back in to the poll, and has a chance to claim a share of the GWAL title against Bishop Carroll Friday night.

The aforementioned Mill Valley loss means that Maize takes over the top spot in the rankings for the first time this season. The Eagles continued their perfect season with a big win over previous number 4 Hutch Friday night. Carroll returns to the top five, and has a chance to finish their league schedule unblemished this week. Salina Central makes a jump into the rankings after they knocked off Goddard.

Andale locked up a district title with a shutout of Cheney Friday, their win streak now sits at 45 games. Holton picked up a big win to also claim a district title, handing Hayden their first loss of the season. The Wildcats move up to their preseason ranking of 2nd behind the 3-time defending champs. Holcomb won a rivalry contest with Hugoton to jump back in, knocking the Eagles out.

This week’s 2A poll is completely unchanged, all 10 teams winning their games Friday night. Headlining this week will be a pair of big matchups for district titles. Southeast of Saline hosts Ellsworth, the Bearcats entering the week a surprising 7-0 on the season. SES has been ranked 1st in 2A all season long. Then Nemaha Central also draws a home game for its battle with Sabetha, the Thunder will try to close out a perfect campaign.

Centralia takes over the top spot in the rankings following Inman’s 35-14 loss to Conway Springs Friday. The Panthers are 7-0 for the first time since a 13-0 state championship season in 2013, and narrowly kept that run alive with a 26-20 win over Riverside. Olpe make a slight jump up after handing Jayhawk-Linn their first loss. Conway Springs jumps back in to the 7 spot, the Cardinals have won 4 straight after an 0-3 start.

Canton-Galva senior Jett Vincent set a state record for career interceptions in their win over a then-ranked St. John’s-Tipton team as the Eagles continue a dominant campaign. Crest enters the poll for the first time as they now sit at 6-1 overall.
