WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - In a wild start to the season for Wichita East, things got away from them late as Washburn Rural came into Wichita and took a 49-42 win. The game started with Rural fumbling the opening kickoff, and East jumping on it inside the redzone. After a couple promising plays took the Aces down to the 1-yard line… they fumbled, and Rural survived the mistake.

Later in the 1st, the games first points came on a Rural blocked punt, and return by Walker Thompson for a TD put the Junior Blues up 6-0. East blocked the PAT. East finally settled in late in the 1st, and Iverson Scott found Marcus White on a long TD pass and catch. East converted a 2-point conversion, and East went up 8-6.

Wichita East had a 34-33 lead late in the 3rd quarter, but a late Junior Blue Surge was too much in the end. East visits Kapaun Mt. Carmel in week 2.
