PHOTOS: Hays hosts Maroon & Gold volleyball tourney

HAYS, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - For the second straight season, Olathe West opened their year with a championship in the annual Maroon & Gold tournament held in Hays Saturday, August 27th.

The Owls topped Maize South for a second time in the tournament to claim first place over the Mavs. While Maize South took the opening set during pool play, Olathe West turned in a two set 25-15, 25-20 win to clinch the win.

Third place went the way of the Beloit Trojans. The 4th ranked team in the 3A preseason poll won their pool with wins over Hays, Salina South & Scott City before falling to Maize South in the semifinal match. They topped Salina South for a second time in the third place match.
