Hoisington softball bounces back from first loss for dominant sweep

HOISINGTON, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - On Tuesday afternoon, the Hoisington Lady Cardinals posted a dominant sweep of the Ellinwood Lady Eagles in a softball doubleheader.
Hoisington won the first game 23-0 after three innings. Ellinwood’s first batter, Nevah Bowman, reached base on an error by the shortstop and then stole second. After that, Hoisington’s pitcher Kassidy Nixon struck out the next three batters.
In the bottom of the first, Hoisington scored ten runs. Four of the runs came from a Kadence Urban Grand Slam. Kassidy Nixon also hit a home run in her first at-bat of the game. At the end of the first, Hoisington led 10-0.
Ellinwood struck out one-two-three in the top of the second inning.
Hoisington scored 13 runs in the second inning. Gracie Aylward hit a home run in the inning. Every Lady Cardinal that came to bat in the inning scored at least one run.
Ellinwood managed to get a second runner on in the top of the third, but they did not go farther than second base.
Gracie Aylward scored four runs in the game, the most of any player. Kassidy Nixon pitched two innings striking out six batters and only allowing one to reach base.
After a brief break, Hoisington continued to dominate Ellinwood.
Jordyn Boxberger took the mound for the Lady Cardinals and struck out the first three batters.
Hoisington then batted around their order twice and scored 15 runs in the inning. Kashlin Beck had an inside-the-park home run. All of the other runs came from singles and doubles put into play.
The middle of Ellinwood’s order went down one-two-three in the second inning.
The Lady Cardinals each had a chance to bat in the inning. Kadence Urban hit her second home run of the night with a two-RBI shot to right field. Hoisington scored a total of six runs in the bottom of the second.
The game ended after Ellinwood’s last three batters went in order again in the top of the third.
Six Lady Cardinals scored three runs in the second game.
