ANDOVER, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The Andover Central Jaguars fell just shy of a state championship last year losing in the title game, but Head Coach Grant Bacon said that his team is expecting another deep playoff run this year. They lost a handful of key seniors but are bringing back their key piece on the mound - Senior Rece Wilson.

Bacon said that he is excited for another season of Wilson on the mound.

“We have high expectations for Rece this Spring,” he said. “We’re expecting him to be our guy on the bump and fill up a lot of innings for us. We’re gonna need him also to swing it I know at Hutch he’s probably not gonna do that but we’re gonna need him to swing it and swing it well.”

In Sept. Wilson committed to Hutchinson Community College to play for the Blue Dragons next year, but in the mean time he has his eyes on some hardware, he said.

“We all want to go to state and win the state championship,” he said. “We lost a lot of players last year and it’s going to take some kids to step up this year. But I feel like if we’re all able to play our role, we’ll have success this year.”

The Jaguars kick off their season next week at home against Campus.
