WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Wellington and Andale both came into tonight ranked in 4A, Wellington at #1 and Andale #5. The Crusaders have been rolling all season and that trend continued tonight as they moved to 16-0. They took down the Andale Indians 46-34.

Andale came into the game ready to go. They led the way the entire first quarter, but the Crusaders were able to make adjustments and fight their way back into the game.

Wellington Head Coach Eric Adams said that he was proud of his teams ability to overcome early troubles in this one.

“Things were rough in the first half for us and things just weren’t going right,” he said. “But the girls found a way to battle. This is just a good group of players with high basketball IQs who know how to finish games.”

Wellington jumped out to a lead in the second half behind Freshman Britt Zeka’s 13 second half points. She finished with a game high 21.

Adams said that along with the high-point freshman, he also saw good leadership from his upperclassmen.

“A couple of our seniors, like Ali Zeka and Airalyn Frame just had the attitude of ‘we’re not losing this game.’”

The Crusaders have three more regular season games until sub-state play starts in Kansas and Coach said his girls are ready to make a deep playoff run.
