Andover Central shoots lights out vs Andover
Andover Central makes 12 three-point shots in win
ANDOVER, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - A rematch weeks in the making would end in familiar fashion as Andover Central found itself on top after the final buzzer against Andover, 61-46.
A packed gym would be the perfect setting for the Jaguars to return to mid-season form. Following a tough loss to Derby where they scored a season low in points, Andover Central looked like a team with something to prove.
Leading the way in Central’s takeover was Brittany Harshaw, finishing the night with a game high 26 points. The Creighton-commit looked comfortable scoring at will over the course of the night.
“We worked really hard over these last couple of days, it was important to show that we have moved on, and we came out and played together as a team,” Harshaw explained.
Ellie Stearns seemed to be back on her game, scoring all of her 15 points from behind the three point line, coming up big down the stretch to create the lasting Jaguar separation.
“We have been working all week, we know this is always a big game for us,” Stearns said. “There is always the crowd that is in it too, we knew that we needed that win,” she ended.
Starring opposite of the Central attack, a number of Trojans, led by Brooke Walker would work to keep the home team in the fight, matching Jaguar jabs with big shots of their own. Andover Central would eventually seal the game in the fourth quarter, fending off one final rally.
Brooke Walker kept the Trojan attack strong, finishing with a team-high 20 points. Amelya Vance would pace Walker with 11 points, followed by Alana Shetlar with 8.
Stearns and Harshaw had the hot hand for the Jaguars, followed by Hayden Snodgrass with with 7 points and Kellyn Rogers with 6.
