TMP boys roll past Smith Center
HAYS, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - The TMP-Marian Monarchs easily defeated the Smith Center Redmen with a score of 69-25.Smith Center would score the first points of the Mid-Continent League matchup off a layup by Nolan Lehmann.
TMP’s Gavin Unrein quickly took the lead for his team with a three-pointer. The Monarchs never looked back. Unrien would score a total of twelve points in the first quarter. He also joined Andrew Schwartz and Bryce Seib with each scoring a three in the first quarter.
The Monarchs lead 22-9 going into the second quarter. They would more than double their total in the second quarter. Jace Wentling made four baskets from the field for eight points and Kenton Ginther sank three three-pointers to help their team score 26 points.
TMP led 48 to 17 at halftime.
The Monarchs added 16 points to their total in the third quarter. With the score at 64-23, the entire fourth quarter was played with a running clock.
Nolan Lehmann scored 17 of Smith Center’s 25 points. He made three three-pointers and four field goals. Only three other players scored for the Redmen, Benjy Carr with four and Kaden Weltmer and Tegan McKenzie with two each.
Gavin Unrein led the Monarchs with 17 points. He made two three-pointers, five field goals, and one free throw. Kenton Ginther scored 12 points. Nine of the 12 Monarchs suited up for the game scored at least two points in the game.
TMP combined for 10 made three-pointers.
