Newton hires Greg Slade as new Head Football Coach
NEWTON, Kan. (USD 373 release) - Newton Schools have hired Greg Slade as the new head football coach for the 2022 season. Slade comes to Newton with a host of experience, including 15 years as the head coach at Rose Hill High School (1998 -2013) where he led the Rockets to a 4A state championship (2011) and title game (2004).
Slade then spent six years at Campus High School (2013-2019) where the Colts won their first playoff game in school history. (2018)
“I’m excited and want to thank the administration and the coaches who went through the process with me. I look forward to moving the football program forward,” Slade said.
In addition to his football duties, Slade will teach strength and conditioning and serve as assistant athletic director. The Slade family is full of teachers. Coach Slade’s wife, Lisa, is currently a gifted teacher at Prairie Star Middle School in the Kansas City area. Their two grown children, TJ and Haley, are also teachers.
Coach Slade will be available for a meet and greet with players, parents, and community members Monday, Jan. 31 at Newton High School at 7:30 pm in the Commons.
