Hugoton Lady Eagles hand Goodland Cowgirls their first loss of the season in Overtime Thriller
HUGOTON, Kan. (Catch It Kansas) - The Hugoton Lady Eagles improved to six and one on the season after a 42-38 victory in overtime. The Goodland Cowgirls perfect season comes to an end. Goodland’s record moves to nine and one on the season.
Hugoton led 27-14 at halftime, however Goodland stormed back. The Cowgirls quickly erased the deficit in the second half, leading over Hugoton late in regulation.
The Lady Eagles were led by junior guard Mikyn Hamlin, who scored 21 points. Hamlin, a Wyoming basketball commit, made the buzzer beater three-point shot to send the game to overtime tied at 38.
Hugoton had all the momentum after Hamlin’s big shot. Julienne Salazar made a three-point shot from the corner in overtime, to give Hugoton the lead. The Lady Eagles held Goodland scoreless in overtime, handing the Cowgirls their first loss of the season.
