WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - In a game that is focused on scoring as many points as possible, it was defense that was the emphasis for Andover Central in the Jaguars’ 51-20 win over Goddard.
The Jaguar effort was strong the duration of the contest, Andover Central would only allow three points in the first quarter before a layup would bring the Lion total to five. Central would not allow another point before intermission.
Omar Alsmadi was a force around the rim in the early part of the game, denying Goddard attempts from up close.
While the defense did its job, the offense would take off.
Central’s Kobe Smith had the hot hand for the Jags to start. His scoring primarily coming from beyond in the first half would see him sink three 3-point baskets. Brian Perry and a number of Jaguars would also aid in the scoring efforts in the first half.
The win sees Andover Central improve to 6-0 on the season, the Jaguars will test perfection next against Ark City.
Goddard falls to 2-5.
