WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Andale outperforming Collegiate for the second time this school year. After handing the Spartans their first loss of the year in football back in October 2021, the Indians have now given them their first loss of basketball season. Andale was able to hold off Collegiate’s comeback effort to win 53–50.

“We started off with Valley and Maize and we’ve been building ever since and continue to get better game after game,” said Andale head basketball coach Jeff Buchanan. “You overcome one of those where you beat and undefeated team, it gives you a little bit of confidence in knowing that that hard work in the gym, on practices is really paying off.”

The Spartans cut a 14 point Andale lead to three points in the final minutes of the game but finished short of a comeback win.

Andale senior captain Nathan Nemechek said, “They made a run there in the end and we just tried to stay with what got us the lead in the first place, just slowed down. We had some turnovers that really hurt us there near the end of the game.”

”In the first half we executed defensive scheme very well and held the whole team to 15 points and I think we executed really well,” said Buchanan. “We got in foul trouble there in the second quarter and I think that’s where we got tentative in the second half where all of a sudden, we were playing on our heels a little bit and that’s where they got aggressive, they were the more aggressive team.”

Andale moves to 4-2 and will host Rose Hill next week. Collegiate is now 6-1 and will travel to Wellington.
