WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - In the Circle Thunderbird Classic basketball tournament between teams from the AVCTL and the SEK, four teams faced off in the second round of competition on Thursday.

Both boys and girls teams played in each matchup with Mulvane taking on Parsons and Circle taking on Labette County.

The Mulvane- Parsons girls game was a back and forth effort the whole game until the final quarter when the Vikings started to pull away from the Wildcats. In the end, Parsons claimed victory over Mulvane girls, 61-50.

Then the boys followed up the girls with Parsons getting out to an early start over Mulvane. But Landon Coe sparked the Wildcats offense which led to them beating the Vikings 72-61.

In the last half of competition Thursday night, Labette County girls took on Circle. The Thunderbirds with home court advantage, struggled to put points on the board. At one point, the Grizzlies led by more than 20 points. The T-birds were able to cut the deficit throughout the second half though and fall by 15 points to Labette County. In a very low scoring game, the Grizzlies won 45-30.

Finally the last game of the night, Labette County boys and Circle, went head to head.

T-bird Classic competition continues Friday night at Circle High School with the first game, Labette County vs. Mulvane beginning at 2:30 p.m. and the last game, Independence vs. Collegiate with a tentative start time of 7:30 p.m.
