Heights gets big road win vs Kapaun
WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - Zyanna Walker is rebounding from a lost season a year ago, in a major way. The Louisville commit finished with a team high 30 points, helping the Falcons to a 66-36 win over Kapaun Mt. Carmel.
The Falcons got off to a fast start opening the game on a 15-0 run before Lizzie Romer ended the drought with one of her two first-quarter three point shots.
Heights wreaked havoc defensively and was rare in giving up open looks in the first half. Mya Mayberry stepped up for the Falcons from the guard spot when Cayanna Stanley was forced went to the bench with foul trouble. Mayberry scored the first four points for Heights on a drive to the rim, followed by a steal on the ensuing inbounds play. She would go on to finish with 9 points.
Despite the first half deficit, the Crusaders went on a run of their own in an attempt to close the gap. Romer had the hot hand for Kapaun, scoring 12 points on the night. Sophia Gimino followed with 7.
