DODGE CITY, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - It took three sets to do it, but Spearville persevered, coming out ahead of Pretty Prairie en route to their first volleyball championship in school history.
The Lady Lancers beat the Bulldogs 25-10, 22-25, 25-19.
The championship comes after years of coming up just short; 2020 saw them just miss out on making the trip to Dodge City, falling to Smith Center while playing in 2A. The two years prior, they finished runner-up. This year, they got things done, opening the first set with a 9-0 lead as part of the 15 point win. Set two they looked like they would finish out, but the Bulldogs pulled off a furious comeback to even things before Spearville built a 10 point final set lead, holding off another attempt at the comeback.
