WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) -For the Wichita Heights Falcons, the last few years have been about restoring tradition and returning to their winning ways. Head Coach Dominick Dingle says this team has embraced that challenge and the change in their record is proof.

“We are just continuing to work, we took our lumps, we were very young,” shared Coach Dingle. “Even last year during the COVID season our kids have been continuing to work and they show up and try to get better. As the young guys started to grow up, we started to get better,” he finished.

Since Dingle took over the Falcons, the team has improved going 3-6 in his first season to a 5-3 finish a year ago. Now the Falcons are looking to take the next step and compete for a GWAL title.

“We are just trying to uphold that Heights standard, that Heights brand, each and every day,” Coach Dingle added.

When the Falcons take the field this fall, they’ll look different on offense. This year’s team abandoning the flex offense and opting towards the spread, aimed at getting playmakers the ball in space.

“It is exciting because we are in a spread type now and we have a lot of weapons that we can use so it is pretty good,” shared junior Adrian Patterson.

The Falcons return plenty of playmakers from a year ago, including quarterback DJ Dingle and running back John Randle, Jr, all agree they’re in favor of the new offensive attack.

“We are getting better with the new offense every day, I feel like it is working out for us, we just need to keep working and keep grinding,” added DJ.

Even with the new game plan, the expectation remains the same for a team that has made consistent improvement over the last few seasons, being able to compete is key.

“This team is one that is going to play hard, a team that is going to be coached hard, a team that is going to play together. We are going to be fast and physical and have a lot of fun. We are going to be excited about every opportunity,” Coach Dingle explained.
