WICHITA, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) - One of the star players on the D2 West Squad will be sporting K-State purple next year. Shadryon Blanka of St. Francis is gray shirting for the Wildcats this upcoming season, going from 8-man football to division one football.

Mainly a running back, Shadryon Blanka showed off his versatility in this 8-man All Star game, not only in the run game but as a threat down the field and on defense. This type of athleticism caught the eyes of K-State’s football staff who recently signed Blanka as a walk-on.

“I’ve played 8-man all my high school career, I’m excited getting to learn the eleven-man side of it and getting to work with that amazing coaching staff,” said Blanka.

Blanka said he’s looking forward to honing his skills, getting stronger and growing his execution on the field while also learning to read different types of zones, which he practiced in this all-star game.

“Really just have fun with it. Football can be hard going out to practice every day,” said Blanka. “Me and Colton actually came up with that play sitting on the sideline talking to the coaches because they really allowed us the opportunity to open ourselves up and see the field where they can’t see it and call our own plays.”

As a grey shirt, Blanka plans to take the fall semester off and enroll at KSU in January.
